Messukylä
Messukylä is a district in Tampere, Finland. It is located in the eastern part of the city, along the shores of Lake Näsijärvi. Historically, Messukylä was a separate municipality before it was merged with Tampere in 1947. The area retains some of its rural charm and is characterized by a mix of residential areas, forests, and open fields.
The name "Messukylä" is believed to derive from "messu," meaning "fair" or "market," and "kylä," meaning "village."
The Messukylä Church is a notable landmark in the district. Originally built in the late 19th century,
