Meridion is a fictional sovereign state in the continent of Caledon within the world of Asteria. It borders the Serin Sea to the west and the Northreach Highlands to the east. The nation comprises a coastal belt, fertile river valleys, and interior plateaus.

The name Meridion derives from meridional, referencing its southern latitudes and identity rooted in southern winds.

Its climate ranges from maritime along the coast to semi-arid inland, with a network of rivers including the Vire and Lora. The capital is Solmere, located on a natural harbor.

Meridion began as a collection of city-states in antiquity and achieved territorial unity after the Meridian Pact in 1672. It developed as a trading and maritime power, expanding inland in the 18th and 19th centuries. It transitioned to a constitutional republic in 1845 following a peaceful reform movement.

Meridion operates as a constitutional republic with a bicameral legislature, the Senate and the Assembly. The President is head of state; a Prime Minister heads the government. Elections are held every five years by proportional representation, with judicial independence guaranteed by the constitution.
