Mehrstufenmodulationen

Mehrstufenmodulationen, also known as multistage modulations, are a class of modulation schemes used in digital communications where the information signal is modulated in multiple steps. Instead of a single modulation process, the data is encoded and transformed through a sequence of stages, each employing a specific modulation technique. This approach allows for greater flexibility in designing the signal's properties, such as bandwidth efficiency, noise immunity, and spectral characteristics.

Typically, a Mehrstufenmodulation begins with a basic digital modulation like Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) or Phase Shift Keying (PSK). The output of this initial stage is then used as the input for a subsequent modulation, which could be another ASK or PSK, or even a more complex scheme like Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM). The final transmitted signal is the result of this cascaded modulation process.
