Mazdaspeed3

The Mazdaspeed3, also known as the Mazda 3 MPS in some markets, was a performance-oriented hatchback produced by Mazda. It was based on the Mazda3 compact car but featured significant upgrades to its engine, suspension, and styling. The first generation was produced from 2007 to 2009, and the second generation from 2010 to 2013.

A key feature of the Mazdaspeed3 was its turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four engine, which produced around 263 horsepower. This power was sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The car was known for its strong acceleration and responsive handling, making it a popular choice for enthusiasts seeking a practical yet sporty vehicle.

Visually, the Mazdaspeed3 distinguished itself from the standard Mazda3 with a more aggressive front fascia, a prominent hood scoop, larger wheels, and a sporty rear spoiler. Inside, it often featured sport seats and unique badging. The suspension was retuned for better cornering performance, and the brakes were upgraded to handle the increased power.

Despite its performance capabilities, the Mazdaspeed3 maintained the practicality of the standard Mazda3, offering a usable rear seat and cargo space. It competed in a segment that included other hot hatchbacks like the Volkswagen GTI and the Subaru WRX. Production of the Mazdaspeed3 ended with the second generation, and no direct successor has been released.
