Matemaatikut

Matemaatikut is the Finnish designation for a collective of professional mathematicians who have organized themselves into a formal association since the early 1990s. The founding members were motivated by a desire to promote advanced research in mathematics across Finland and to increase visibility of the discipline among high‑school students. The organization is headquartered in Helsinki and maintains an active website that hosts information on conferences, workshops, and joint research funding proposals.

Membership in Matemaatikut is open to mathematicians holding a doctoral degree or those with substantial contributions to mathematical research. Annual general assemblies are held to elect a board of directors, which oversees a range of programmes. These include sponsoring national symposia, facilitating collaboration between university departments, and providing mentorship for doctoral candidates. In addition, mathematicians within the association contribute to the editorial boards of several international journals.
