Markit

Markit was a financial information and analytics company that provided data, benchmarks, valuations, and related software tools to participants in the global financial markets. Its products were used by banks, asset managers, corporations, and exchanges to support pricing, risk management, and post-trade workflows across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, credit, and commodities. Key offerings included reference and market data, pricing and valuation services, and index families such as the iBoxx fixed-income indices, along with post-trade processing through MarkitSERV.

The company grew through organic expansion and acquisitions to broaden its data coverage and analytical capabilities.

In 2020, S&P Global announced its plan to acquire IHS Markit for approximately $44 billion, with the

2016,
Markit
announced
a
merger
with
IHS,
forming
a
combined
entity
that
operated
as
IHS
Markit,
a
global
information
and
analytics
company
serving
diverse
industries
and
markets.
The
IHS
Markit
brand
continued
to
represent
the
merged
business
for
several
years.

closing
in
2022.
Following
the
completion
of
the
deal,
Markit’s
assets
and
services
were
integrated
into
S&P
Global’s
operations,
and
many
products
were
aligned
with
or
rebranded
under
the
S&P
Global
umbrella,
notably
within

Intelligence
and
related
data
services.
