Manningin

Manningin is a fictional village and civil parish in the county of Northedge, in the country of Westhaven. It lies in a rolling valley along the River Alder, about 12 kilometers south of the regional town Bristow. The parish covers a compact area of farms, hedgerows, and a small historic core. The name Manningin is derived from the medieval Mannin family, who established a manor here in the 12th century.

Historically, Manningin grew around the manor and parish church. In the 19th century the arrival of a short railway spur spurred agricultural processing and small workshops. The population fluctuated with harvests and markets, but remained small.

Today Manningin's economy centers on agriculture—principally dairy farming and cereals—along with a handful of crafts and a village inn that serves as a social hub. The village is linked to Bristow by a regional road; a local bus service operates daily. The Manningin Manor estate provides seasonal employment and hosts occasional events.

Culture and community: The village hosts an annual harvest festival and a summertime fête at the manor grounds. The parish church, Saint Mary's, retains medieval and 18th-century features.

Education: Manningin Primary School serves local children; secondary students attend Bristow College in the nearby town.
