Makivik
Makivik Corporation, commonly referred to as Makivik, is a nonprofit Inuit organization that represents the Inuit of Nunavik in northern Quebec, Canada. It was established in 1978 to implement the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA), the land claim settlement between the Inuit of Nunavik, the governments of Canada and Quebec. The organization is responsible for managing the settlement funds, assets, and programs allocated to the Inuit of Nunavik, and for representing Inuit interests in negotiations with government and industry.
