Maironiss is a fictional coastal realm created for fantasy and speculative fiction. It consists of an archipelago scattered along the northern fringe of the continent of Eldara. The realm is known for its maritime economy, guild-centered trade, and diverse island cultures.

The archipelago comprises about a dozen major islands and numerous islets. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and foggy summers, and frequent storms at sea.

Maironiss is not a unitary state but a federation of autonomous city-states linked by the Council of Isles. Each city-state governs itself, while the council coordinates defense, foreign trade, and common standards. The capital is Lysara, a major port and political center.

The economy centers on fishing, shipbuilding, timber, and trade. Ports act as hubs for caravans of goods between islands and the mainland. The currency is the mairon.

The population is around 1.2 million. Maironish is the official language; many island communities retain dialects. The culture emphasizes seafaring craft, guilds, maritime festivals, and storytelling. Religion is diverse, with traditional sea-spirit beliefs coexisting with monotheistic and other faiths.

Tradition says Maironiss emerged as a loose alliance of clans in the late medieval period and gradually formed the federal council. It experienced rapid modernization after contact with continental traders in the early modern era. Notable landmarks include the Lighthouse of Lysara and the Shipwrights' Row.
