Maintenent is a term used in some maintenance and asset-management discussions to describe the systematic practice of preserving and extending the life of assets through planned, data-driven activities. It is not universally standardized and is often treated as a coined term or a misspelling of maintenance in some sources.

Maintenent encompasses strategies for physical equipment, facilities, and digital systems. It includes reactive work (fixing after failure) and proactive approaches such as preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance.

Key activities include regular inspections, lubrication, calibration, part replacement, condition monitoring, and data analysis to forecast failures.

Tools include computer maintenance management systems (CMMS), enterprise asset management (EAM) software, and Internet of Things sensors. Techniques include failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), root cause analysis, and life-cycle costing.

Benefits include increased asset availability, reduced downtime, longer asset life, and lower lifecycle costs. Challenges include initial investment, data quality, skilled personnel, and integration with existing workflows.
