Mahomes

Patrick Lavon Mahomes II (born September 17, 1995) is an American football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). A versatile playmaker known for a strong arm and improvisational ability, Mahomes played college football at Texas Tech University, where he posted record-setting performances and drew national attention for his rare combination of speed and passing prowess.

Mahomes was selected by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft (10th overall). He spent his rookie season as a backup to Alex Smith and became the starter in 2018, quickly establishing himself as one of the league's top quarterbacks. That season he threw 50 touchdown passes and surpassed 5,000 passing yards, earning NFL Most Valuable Player honors.

During the 2019 season, Mahomes led Kansas City to a Super Bowl LIV championship, and was named Super Bowl MVP. In 2020, he signed a 10-year contract extension worth up to $503 million, the largest contract in professional sports at the time. He has since helped the Chiefs reach multiple playoff appearances, and earned another Super Bowl MVP after the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII in February 2023.

Mahomes is known for mobility, decision-making, and the ability to extend plays, qualities that have shaped modern NFL offenses. He has set and approached numerous franchise and league records and has been recognized with multiple All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections. Off the field, he is married to Brittany Matthews and participates in charitable activities and community outreach.
