The impregnation process usually involves immersing the material in a molten magnesium bath or a magnesium-containing salt solution under controlled temperature and pressure conditions. The molten magnesium or dissolved magnesium ions then penetrate the pores of the host material, filling them and becoming integrated with the substrate.
