Magadhi
Magadhi, also known as Magadhi Prakrit in its historical form, is an Eastern Indo-Aryan language associated with the Magadha region of eastern India. In ancient times, Magadhi Prakrit was a prominent Prakrit language of northern India, flourishing roughly from the 5th century BCE to the early centuries CE. It is closely linked with the language of early Buddhist and Jain texts, and is commonly regarded as a common ancestor to several modern eastern languages. Scholarly consensus often treats Magadhi Prakrit as a historical stage, from which later varieties developed, including what is now called Magahi.
