Maastikuvõimekus

Maastikuvõimekus is an Estonian term that translates to "terrain capability" or "off-road capability" in English. It refers to the ability of a vehicle, particularly a military vehicle or an all-terrain vehicle, to traverse various types of natural terrain without becoming stuck or losing operational effectiveness. This capability is influenced by several factors including the vehicle's design, its weight, its power-to-weight ratio, its suspension system, tire type and pressure, ground clearance, and the presence of specialized features like four-wheel drive, locking differentials, or even tracked propulsion.

When assessing maastikuvõimekus, consideration is given to a range of obstacles and environments such as mud, sand, snow, rocks, steep slopes, and water crossings. A vehicle with high maastikuvõimekus can navigate these challenges effectively, maintaining speed and control. This is crucial for military operations where vehicles must operate in diverse and often unpredictable environments, ensuring logistical support and troop mobility.
