Maailmaa
Maailmaa is the partitive singular form of the Finnish noun maailma, meaning "the world" in a general or non-specific sense. In Finnish, the partitive case is used for actions that are incomplete, ongoing, or not fully determined, as well as in negations and expressions of quantity. Therefore, maailmaa often appears in sentences where the world is not treated as a completed whole or when the statement concerns part of the world rather than its entirety.
In grammar, maallinen forms are inflected for case and number, with the partitive singular ending in -a/-ä,
- En näe maailmaa. (I do not see the world.)
- Haluaisin nähdä maailmaa. (I would like to see the world.)
- Maailmaa jaetaan moniin osiin. (The world is divided into many parts.)
Maailmaa can also appear in phrases and idioms where the emphasis lies on a portion or aspect
