MUDer

MUDer is a term used to refer to a player of a Multi-User Dungeon (MUD). MUDs are text-based multiplayer online role-playing games that were popular in the late 1980s and 1990s. In a MUD, players interact with the game world and other players through typed commands. They explore virtual environments, complete quests, battle monsters, and develop their characters.

MUDers typically spend a significant amount of time within these virtual worlds, often engaging in social interactions, forming guilds or groups with other players, and participating in player-versus-player combat. The experience of playing a MUD is highly dependent on descriptive text, which serves as the "graphics" of the game. Players must use their imagination to visualize the settings, characters, and events described.

The culture surrounding MUDs and their players is rich with its own slang, etiquette, and history. Many early online gaming communities and social dynamics were forged within MUDs. While less prevalent today due to the rise of graphical online games, MUDs and MUDers represent an important chapter in the evolution of online gaming and virtual worlds.
