MOLLE-compatible refers to equipment and pouches designed to attach to MOLLE systems, based on the Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment standard and the Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS). MOLLE was developed by the United States Army in the 1990s and has since become a widely adopted framework for modular load-carrying gear used by military, law enforcement, and civilian outdoor brands. The system relies on rows of heavy-duty nylon webbing known as PALS, typically spaced at one-inch intervals, sewn onto vests, backpacks, or belts.

MOLLE-compatible items have back panels or straps that allow weaving through the host gear’s PALS webbing. The attachment process typically involves threading the pouch’s straps through the webbing on the gear and then back through the pouch’s own webbing to secure it, creating a rigid, adjustable platform. This weaving method enables pouches and accessories to be repositioned quickly and reconfigured as needed.

Because MOLLE uses a common webbing pattern, compatible gear from different manufacturers is generally interchangeable, contributing to a large ecosystem of pouches, holsters, medical kits, and accessories. However, variations in strap length, retention designs, or overall build quality can affect fit and stability on certain panels. Some non-MOLLE systems mimic the concept but do not strictly comply with the standard, which may limit cross-brand compatibility.

MOLLE-compatible equipment remains a standard choice for customizable load carriage, enabling users to tailor gear to mission requirements, training environments, or personal preference.
