MEINOX

MEINOX is a designation used in the metalworking industry to refer to a family of stainless steel alloys marketed under the MEINOX name by multiple manufacturers. The term is used for products intended to provide corrosion resistance in a range of environments, from consumer goods to industrial equipment.

MEINOX grades generally correspond to common stainless steel families, most notably austenitic types, though ferritic and duplex variants can be included. Typical compositions include chromium in the 16–20% range and nickel in the 8–12% range; some grades may include molybdenum or nitrogen to improve pitting and high-temperature performance. Exact chemical compositions depend on the grade and producer.

Key properties include high corrosion and oxidation resistance, good formability, and satisfactory strength. They are often chosen for their ease of fabrication and broad availability. Limitations can include lower thermal conductivity and, in some grades, less strength at elevated temperatures compared with high-performance alloys.

Manufacturing follows standard stainless steel production routes, including melting, refining, and shaping by rolling or forming, followed by annealing and surface finishing. Meinox products are supplied in forms such as sheets, plates, bars, tubes, and wire, with finishes ranging from mill to polished or brushed surfaces. They are typically specified to international standards and grade names set by the producing company and governing organizations.
