M151

The M151, commonly known as the MUTT (Military Utility Tactical Truck), is a 1/4-ton four-wheel-drive light utility vehicle produced from 1959 to 1982. It was designed to replace the World War II-era Jeep, and its development was a significant step in military light vehicle technology. The M151 featured an independent suspension system, which significantly improved its off-road mobility and ride comfort compared to its predecessors.

Over its production life, the M151 underwent several upgrades and modifications, leading to different variants such as the M151A1 and M151A2. These improvements often included enhancements to the suspension, chassis, and engine. The M151 was built by various manufacturers, including Ford and Willys-Overland (later Kaiser-Jeep). Its robust design and adaptability made it a versatile platform, capable of performing a wide range of military roles, including troop transport, reconnaissance, and as a mount for light weapons.

The M151 served extensively with the United States military during the Vietnam War and in numerous other conflicts and operations worldwide.
