KaiserJeep

The KaiserJeep Corporation was an American automobile manufacturer that existed from 1953 to 1970. It was formed when Henry J. Kaiser purchased the Willys-Overland Motor Company. KaiserJeep continued to produce the popular Jeep line of vehicles, as well as other automobiles and trucks under the Kaiser brand.

The company's origins trace back to the Willys-Overland Corporation, a manufacturer of civilian Jeeps and other vehicles. Henry J. Kaiser, an industrialist and shipbuilder, acquired a controlling interest in Willys-Overland in 1945 and fully purchased the company in 1953, renaming it Willys Motors, Inc. Shortly thereafter, the company was renamed KaiserJeep Corporation.

Under KaiserJeep, the iconic Jeep CJ (Civilian Jeep) continued to be a significant product. The company also produced the Jeep Wagoneer, an early luxury SUV, and various military vehicles. In addition to Jeeps, KaiserJeep also manufactured passenger cars and trucks under the Kaiser brand, though these were less successful than the Jeep line.

In 1970, KaiserJeep Corporation was sold to American Motors Corporation (AMC). AMC continued to produce Jeep vehicles, eventually integrating them into their own product lines. The KaiserJeep era represents a significant period in the history of the Jeep brand, solidifying its reputation for ruggedness and versatility.
