Mõttekäiguvalju

Mõttekäiguvalju is an Estonian term that literally translates to "thought-process loud" or "loud train of thought." It describes a situation where someone vocalizes their internal thought process as they are thinking. This can manifest as speaking aloud to oneself, muttering, or even having a detailed monologue that follows the unfolding of their ideas. It is often observed when someone is engaged in problem-solving, making a complex decision, or trying to recall information. The person may not necessarily be aware that they are speaking aloud or that others can hear them. It is generally considered an involuntary or semi-voluntary behavior. In some contexts, it can be seen as a sign of intense concentration or a way to organize one's thoughts. While not a formal psychological term, it is a commonly understood concept in everyday Estonian language. The opposite would be keeping one's thoughts entirely internal. The act of mõttekäiguvalju can sometimes be perceived as eccentric or absent-minded by observers, depending on the social setting. It is not associated with any specific cognitive disorder, but rather a behavioral tendency.
