Låsekjenen

Låsekjenen is a Norwegian term that translates to "lock recognition" or "key recognition." It refers to the process by which a locking mechanism, particularly in mechanical or electronic systems, identifies and verifies the correct key or access credential. This recognition is the fundamental step in granting or denying access.

In traditional mechanical locks, låsekjenen occurs when the unique pattern of a key's bitting, or the grooves and cuts, aligns with the internal pins or tumblers of the lock cylinder. When the alignment is correct, it allows the cylinder to turn, thereby operating the bolt mechanism.
