Lämpötilakompensaatioon refers to the process of adjusting or correcting a measurement or device output to account for changes in temperature. Many physical properties and electronic components are sensitive to temperature variations, which can lead to inaccuracies in readings or performance. For example, the resistance of a wire increases with temperature, and the volume of a liquid expands. In metrology, precise measurements are crucial, so devices like thermometers, pressure gauges, and scales often incorporate temperature compensation mechanisms.

These mechanisms can be implemented in several ways. In some instruments, a second sensor or a bimetallic strip might be used to provide an opposing effect that cancels out the temperature-induced error. In digital systems, software algorithms can perform calculations to correct the measured value based on a temperature reading from a separate sensor.
