Lábboltozatok

Lábboltozatok refer to the arches of the human foot. The foot is composed of three distinct arches: the medial longitudinal arch, the lateral longitudinal arch, and the transverse arch. These arches are formed by the arrangement of the bones, ligaments, and muscles of the foot. The medial longitudinal arch is the highest and most prominent, running from the heel to the ball of the foot on the inner side. The lateral longitudinal arch is lower and flatter, located on the outer side of the foot. The transverse arch runs across the midfoot, from side to side.

The primary function of the foot arches is to distribute body weight evenly across the foot, acting as shock absorbers during walking, running, and jumping. They also provide elasticity and adaptability to the foot, allowing it to conform to uneven surfaces and propel the body forward. The dynamic interplay of muscles and ligaments helps to maintain the integrity of these arches.

Issues with the arches, such as flattening (pes planus) or excessive height (pes cavus), can lead to various foot problems, including pain in the arch, heel, or ankle, as well as more widespread musculoskeletal issues. These conditions can be influenced by genetics, footwear, activity levels, and underlying medical conditions. Treatment often involves supportive footwear, orthotics, physical therapy, and exercises to strengthen the muscles supporting the arches.
