Lytterposition refers to the stance or perspective from which an individual receives and interprets information, particularly in communication. It is not simply about hearing words, but about the active process of listening and making sense of what is communicated. A lytterposition can be passive, where the individual simply absorbs information without much critical engagement. A listener in an open and receptive lytterposition is more likely to understand the speaker's message accurately and respond constructively. Conversely, a listener holding a closed or prejudiced lytterposition may misinterpret or reject the information regardless of its content.
