Lykilverkfæri

Lykilverkfæri is Icelandic for “key tools.” The term is a compound of lykill, key, and verkfæri, tools. It is used both literally and figuratively: literally to describe tools that are essential in a craft, trade, or technical task; and figuratively to denote methods, resources, or instruments considered crucial for achieving a goal.

In everyday use, it appears in education, business, journalism, and technical writing. For example, a teacher might speak of “lykilverkfæri fyrir verkefnið” to refer to the indispensable tools and resources needed to complete the assignment.
