Lydisolationen

Lydisolationen is the property of a building element or structure to reduce the transmission of sound between spaces. It concerns both airborne sound, such as voices or music, and impact sound, such as footfalls. The goal is to create environments with controlled acoustic intimacy or privacy while preserving adequate room acoustics.

Performance is typically quantified using standardized metrics. For airborne sound, the weighted sound reduction index (Rw or Dn,f) measures how well a element reduces transmitted sound. Materials such as mineral wool, dense boards, and decoupling spacers are often used in combination.
