Lumenstad

Lumenstad is a fictional city and administrative center of the nation of Veridia in a northern coastal region. The city derives its name from the ancient lumens—sources of light—symbolizing its long tradition of urban illumination. As of the latest fictional census, it has about 320,000 residents in the urban area and 520,000 in the metropolitan region.

Founded as a trading post in the 12th century along the Lumen River, Lumenstad grew as a harbor town and was an early center of glassmaking and shipbuilding. The city endured several major fires in the 17th and 18th centuries and was rebuilt in stone. Industrial growth in the 19th century shaped its current street grid and public spaces.

Located on a natural harbor with a river running through the old town, the city experiences a temperate maritime climate with cool summers and wet winters.
