Loogikareegel

Loogikareegel, meaning "rule of logic" in Estonian, refers to fundamental principles that govern valid reasoning and inference. These rules are essential for constructing sound arguments and identifying fallacies.

The most basic loogikareegel is the law of non-contradiction, which states that a statement cannot be both true and false at the same time and in the same sense. Another fundamental rule is the law of the excluded middle, which posits that a statement must be either true or false; there is no middle ground.

Loogikareegel also encompasses rules of inference, such as modus ponens and modus tollens. Modus ponens states that if a conditional statement is true, and its antecedent is true, then its consequent must also be true. Modus tollens works in reverse: if a conditional statement is true and its consequent is false, then its antecedent must also be false.

These rules are not arbitrary pronouncements but rather reflections of how consistent and meaningful thought processes operate. They form the bedrock of formal logic and are applied across various fields, including mathematics, philosophy, computer science, and everyday critical thinking.
