Lokuszon

Lokuszon is a fictional mineral introduced in speculative geology and science fiction to describe a rare aluminosilicate that forms within localized geological zones. The name combines a root alluding to location (lokus) with zon, signaling a defined zone. It is not a recognized mineral in real-world mineralogy.

In the imagined setting, lokuszon forms during high-pressure phase transitions in restricted thermal gradients, typically in crustal pockets or mantles near tectonic boundaries, and in simulated metamorphic environments within icy moons. It is often described as occurring in discrete pockets rather than as a widespread phase, hence the "lokuszon" designation.

Crystallography and appearance: lokuszon is described as forming monoclinic or layered crystals with pronounced anisotropy. Reported hardness is around 6 on the Mohs scale; refractive index near 1.72–1.80; it presents a metallic to pearly luster and can show iridescent internal reflections when viewed in thin sections. Color varies with impurities, ranging from pale blue to olive green.

In fiction and worldbuilding contexts, lokuszon is valued for its optical properties and potential thermal conductivity. It is sometimes proposed as a speculative material for photovoltaics or advanced optics, and its localized occurrence is used as a geologic indicator in narratives.
