The straw man fallacy involves misrepresenting an opponent's argument to make it easier to attack. Appeal to authority is another fallacy, where an argument is deemed valid simply because it is supported by an authority figure, even if that authority is not an expert on the topic.

Other frequent fallacies include the slippery slope, which suggests that a minor action will inevitably lead to a series of increasingly severe consequences, and the false dilemma, which presents only two options when more exist. Understanding these and other logical fallacies helps individuals identify weak arguments and make more informed decisions.
