Lisääntymisjakso, also known as the breeding season or reproductive cycle, refers to the period in the annual life cycle of many animals during which they are physiologically and behaviorally prepared to reproduce. This period is often characterized by specific hormonal changes that lead to the development of reproductive organs, the production of gametes (sperm and eggs), and the exhibition of mating behaviors.
