Lipidelagen
Lipidelagen is a hypothetical lipid-derived signaling molecule used in discussions of lipid mediator biology. In proposed models, lipidelagen is a small amphipathic lipid composed of a fatty acyl chain linked to a polar headgroup, allowing membrane localization while enabling receptor interaction. It is envisioned to be generated by selective hydrolysis of glycerophospholipids by specific phospholipases and to be inactivated by local lipases and hydrolases.
