Lintfilteret

Lintfilteret, or the lint filter, is a common component in modern laundry appliances designed to capture loose fibers, hair, and debris during washing or drying. It helps prevent clogs in drainage and venting systems, maintains washing and drying efficiency, and reduces fire risk by trapping lint before it can accumulate in heaters or pumps.

During washing, lintfilteret works as a screen that catches fibers shed by fabrics, formed in the washing water and agitation. In tumble dryers, the lintfilteret sits in the hot-air path and collects lint carried from clothes as they tumble and dry. In both cases, the lintfilteret should be regularly cleaned to maintain airflow.

Design and placement vary by model. In washers, the lintfilteret can be located at the bottom front, behind a small access panel, or integrated into the sump. In dryers, it is usually a removable screen located in the door frame or front panel. Materials are typically plastic or metal mesh that allows water or air to pass while catching lint.

Maintenance and safety: Clean lintfilteret after every cycle or at least weekly, removing all lint with a dry cloth or by rinsing the screen. A clogged lintfilteret reduces efficiency, increases energy use, and may pose a fire risk in dryers.
