Limnodynastidae
Limnodynastidae is a family of frogs native to Australia, New Guinea, and nearby islands. They are known for their distinctive appearance, with males often having bright, iridescent skin and large, webbed feet. The family includes several genera, with the most well-known being Limnodynastes, which contains species like the golden bell frog (Limnodynastes dumerilii) and the green tree frog (Litoria caerulea). These frogs are typically arboreal, spending much of their time in trees and other vegetation. They are omnivorous, feeding on a variety of insects, spiders, and small vertebrates. Limnodynastidae are an important part of their ecosystems, serving as both predators and prey. However, many species are threatened by habitat loss and degradation, making conservation efforts crucial for their survival. The family is classified within the order Anura, which includes all frogs and toads.
