Limecementmørtel is a masonry mortar that combines a lime-based binder with cement and an inert aggregate, typically sand. It is used where a balance is needed between early strength and long-term breathability, making it common in restoration and repair of traditional masonry. The binder can be hydraulic lime, lime putty augmented with cement, or a blend of lime and cement designed for improved early strength. The sand is chosen to suit workability and the masonry being pointed or rendered.

Mixes vary widely in ratio, depending on the desired properties and the substrate. Common formulations blend lime with cement and sand to achieve sufficient strength while preserving moisture transfer through the wall. Because of the cement component, limecementmørtel cures through a combination of cement hydration and lime carbonation, and it benefits from gradual, moisture-containing curing conditions. Excessive drying or freezing should be avoided during initial hardening.

Applications include repointing historic masonry, repairing degraded mortar joints in old buildings, and certain modern constructions where compatibility with existing stone or brick and vapor permeability are priorities. It is often preferred over pure cement mortars in historic contexts because it accommodates movement and moisture without causing damage to softer substrates.
