Likertkysymyksissä, often translated as Likert-type questions, are a common tool used in surveys and questionnaires to measure attitudes, opinions, and behaviors. They present a statement to which respondents indicate their level of agreement or disagreement. Typically, a five-point scale is used, ranging from "Strongly Disagree" to "Strongly Agree," with a neutral midpoint such as "Neither Agree nor Disagree." Other variations exist, including scales with three, four, six, or seven points, and sometimes different labels for the points, such as "Very Unsatisfied" to "Very Satisfied."

The strength of Likert-type questions lies in their ability to provide nuanced data beyond a simple yes or no. By aggregating responses across a group, researchers can discern patterns and trends in opinions. For instance, if a majority of respondents "Agree" or "Strongly Agree" with a statement about product satisfaction, it indicates a generally positive sentiment. However, these questions are ordinal data, meaning the intervals between scale points are not necessarily equal. This distinction is important for certain statistical analyses, as treating them as interval data can lead to misinterpretations. Despite this limitation, Likert-type questions are widely adopted due to their ease of understanding for respondents and straightforward analysis for researchers.
