Liittymäsähkö

Liittymäsähkö refers to the electricity connection provided to a property, such as a house, building, or land, from the main electricity grid. It is the point where the external electricity network interfaces with the internal electrical system of the property. This connection is typically established by the local electricity distribution network operator.

The process of obtaining a liittymäsähkö involves several steps. First, an application is usually submitted to the distribution network operator, outlining the property's location and estimated electricity needs. The operator then assesses the feasibility of the connection and provides a quote for the installation costs. These costs can vary significantly depending on the distance to the nearest suitable connection point on the grid and the complexity of the required infrastructure.

Once the contract is agreed upon, the network operator installs the necessary equipment, which may include underground cables, overhead lines, and a connection box or substation. This connection point is where the electricity from the grid is delivered to the property's meter. The homeowner or property owner is then responsible for the internal wiring and electrical safety of their own system.

Liittymäsähkö is distinct from the electricity supply contract, which is a separate agreement with an electricity retailer for the purchase of electricity itself. The liittymäsähkö pertains solely to the physical infrastructure that brings the electricity to the property boundary. It is a fundamental requirement for any property that wishes to utilize mains electricity.
