Lichtframes

Lichtframes are modular lighting structures that function as both frames and light sources. They consist of a lightweight frame that houses LEDs and diffusive elements, intended for wall mounting, freestanding use, or ceiling integration to provide ambient or accent illumination.

The frame is usually made of aluminum or steel, with diffusive panels such as frosted acrylic to spread light evenly and minimize glare. LED modules are placed along inner edges or in removable inserts, enabling customization of brightness, color temperature, and diffusion.

Technologies commonly used include constant-current LED drivers, tunable white, and RGB options. Control is achievable via dimmers, DMX, DALI, or smart home interfaces, allowing scenes and synchronization with other lighting.

Design variants include wall frames, floor-standing frames, and ceiling installations. Some Lichtframes are modular, allowing frames to be connected to form larger lighting canvases; others are single, standalone units. Backlit versions create halos or silhouettes, while front-lit variants emphasize displays or architectural lines.

Applications span contemporary interiors, art galleries, retail environments, museums, and stage productions, where a minimal, architectural light source is desirable. The modular nature supports rapid reconfiguration for exhibitions or seasonal changes.

Origin and status: The concept arose from modern lighting design that seeks to integrate form and light. Lichtframes are a niche but growing category in high-end interiors and display contexts.
