Levitysleikkureita

Levitysleikkureita, known in English as flail mowers or flail cutters, are a type of agricultural or landscaping machinery used for cutting and mulching vegetation. They consist of a rotating shaft fitted with numerous flail blades, which are typically Y-shaped or T-shaped. As the shaft spins at high speed, the flails swing outwards due to centrifugal force, striking and cutting the vegetation.

These machines are versatile and can be used for a variety of tasks, including managing grass, weeds, brush, and even small trees. They are particularly effective in rough terrain, uneven ground, and areas with obstacles, as the flails are designed to deflect around stones and other hard objects rather than being damaged by them. This makes them a popular choice for maintaining pastures, orchards, vineyards, roadside verges, and uncultivated land.

Levitysleikkureita can be powered by a tractor's Power Take-Off (PTO) shaft, a self-contained engine, or in some smaller models, attached to an ATV or UTV. They come in various sizes, from small handheld units to large tractor-mounted implements. The mulching action of the flails breaks down the cut vegetation into fine particles, which are then returned to the ground, acting as a natural fertilizer and improving soil health. This process also helps to reduce the need for extensive collection and disposal of cuttings.
