Leveysakselin

Leveysakselin is the genitive form of leveysakseli, a Finnish term used in mathematics, engineering, and technical drawing to refer to the axis associated with width in a two-dimensional coordinate system. The word combines leveys (width) and akseli (axis), and the possessive form is used in phrases such as leveysakselin arvo or leveysakselin mittaus to indicate properties of that axis.

In standard Cartesian coordinates, the leveysakseli corresponds to the horizontal dimension. It is typically paired with the korkeusakseli (height axis) or with the pituusakseli (length axis) depending on the context. In graphing, the leveysakselin is the axis along which width-related data are plotted, for example when representing the horizontal extent of an object or a measurement that varies with horizontal position.
