LevelingKopplung, or leveling coupling, is a type of mechanical coupling designed to transmit torque between two connected shafts while maintaining a defined, nearly level relationship between them. It combines a traditional shaft connection with a leveling element that compensates for tilts and height differences arising from uneven foundations, dynamic loads, or thermal expansion, aiming to minimize angular misalignment and mechanical stress.

Designs of leveling couplings range from passive to active systems. Passive variants rely on compliant joints, flexible elements, or gravity-assisted mechanisms to absorb small angular deviations and keep the shafts approximately level without external power.
