Lethoria

Lethoria is a fictional continent and setting used in fantasy literature and role-playing games. It presents a patchwork of climates, cultures, and polities with a shared mythology and trade networks.

It spans temperate coasts to inland uplands. The southern coast holds fertile river valleys and port towns; central plains give way to the Frosthelm Mountains in the north. The Verdant Expanse is a vast forest belt, and Moonmere Lake sits in the eastern lowlands. Major rivers include the Silverrun and the Dawnwake.

Early human and elven clans formed loose alliances, followed by the rise of the Free Cities, then the Great Peace establishing the Lethorian Conclave, a representative federation.

The Lethorian Conclave coordinates affairs among autonomous city-states and principalities. No single ruler presides; authority is diffuse, with annual assemblies in Miranth, the capital. Local governance rests with councils and appointed governors.

Economy centers on agriculture, timber, mineral extraction, and arcane crafts. Trade networks connect coastal markets to inland workshops; guilds hold influence over production and prices. Lethari is the common regional tongue; many locales retain their own dialects.

Festivals honor harvests and seasons; academies study magic and engineering; religious life is diverse, with temples to elemental and ancestral spirits. Notable sites include Miranth, Gatewatch Fortress, Moonmere Lake, Frosthelm Peaks, and the Verdant Expanse.
