Laudato

Lauda­to is the Italian past participle meaning "praised," derived from the Latin laudatus, from the verb lauda­re meaning "to praise." In religious usage, laudato appears as part of phrases in Catholic liturgy and devotional language.

One of the most famous uses is in St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures, where the opening line is "Laudato si', mi' Signore"—often rendered as "Praise be to you, my Lord." The phrase has become a recognizable expression of praise within Italian-language prayers and hymns.

Laudato si' is also the title of Pope Francis's 2015 encyclical, "Laudato si': On Care for Our Common Home." The encyclical uses the phrase as a call to gratitude and responsibility for creation, situating environmental stewardship within a spiritual and ethical framework.

Beyond these prominent uses, laudato appears in various Italian religious expressions and titles, typically conveying praise directed toward God or the divine. The term is generally understood within its liturgical and devotional contexts rather than as a standalone concept with a broad non-religious meaning.
