Lastoperation

Lastoperation is a term used in computing and mathematics to denote the most recently applied operation within a system, program, or calculation. It is commonly stored as a state value to support features such as repeating, undoing, or chaining operations.

In calculators and interactive environments, lastoperation records the last operator used (for example, add, subtract, multiply, or divide). This enables a repeat-or-apply behavior, where subsequent inputs reuse the stored operation, or where a command can re-run the previous computation with a new operand.

In programming libraries and interpreters, lastOperation (often written in camelCase) may be a variable, property, or field in a calculator, parser, or command processor. It may hold an operator code, a function reference, or a token indicating the most recent operation. Its value can be cleared, updated, or saved as part of a session history.

In evaluation engines and expression parsers, lastoperation can be used to optimize evaluation or to implement shorthand input, such as applying the last operation to the current input without retyping the operator.
