Lastfeld

Lastfeld is a town and municipality in the fictional country of Veridia, located in the northern part of the Veridian highlands near the border with the neighboring region of Nordwald. The municipality covers about 68 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 9,300 in the latest census. The town sits in a valley along the Lastbach river, with surrounding farmland, mixed forest, and several marshy areas that are protected as ecological sites.

Lastfeld emerged in the middle ages as a ford on a regional trade route and grew through milling and crafts. Its growth accelerated in the 19th century with the establishment of small metalworking and textile workshops, some of which remain in operation.

The local economy is diversified, anchored by light manufacturing, logistics services, and agriculture. A mid-sized metalworking shop and a regional distribution center are among the largest employers. Tourism focuses on countryside recreation and cultural heritage.

Lastfeld has a mayor-council government. The mayor is elected for a four-year term, and the council—comprising 14 seats—oversees municipal budgets, planning, and local ordinances. The town preserves a Gothic-style parish church dating from the 14th century and hosts an annual harvest festival in autumn. Public education includes one primary school and a combined secondary school. Transportation links include a regional rail service and a main road connecting to larger urban centers; a nearby regional airport provides air connections.
