Largetext is a term used in typography and design to describe text displayed at significantly larger sizes than the surrounding body text. It is not a formal typographic category, but an umbrella concept used to discuss emphasis, headings, legibility, and navigational cues in digital interfaces and printed media. In practice, largetext appears in headings, pull quotes, callouts, and accessibility-focused designs to aid scanning and readability. In web design, designers implement largetext through typographic scales, modular scales, or responsive rules that increase font sizes at larger viewports or based on user preferences.

Implementation methods include using CSS with rem or em units, viewport-based sizing (vw), and media queries to adjust sizes for devices and user settings. Common approaches favor consistent rhythm and proportional scaling to preserve hierarchy while maintaining legibility. Accessibility considerations emphasize sufficient contrast, appropriate line length, and compatibility with user zoom and system font size settings. Largetext should not degrade readability when the text size is reduced, and should fail gracefully on devices with limited rendering capabilities.
