Langlès

Langlès is a constructed language (conlang) created as a neutral means of international communication. It is designed to be easy to learn for speakers of major European languages while retaining features common to natural languages. The name combines elements from words for language and light, reflecting its stated aim of simplicity and readability.

The language was proposed in the early 2010s by a group of linguists and language enthusiasts as part of a project to test accessible language design. Documentation and learning materials were released under open licenses to encourage study and evaluation. It has no official status and remains a niche project.

Phonology: Langlès uses five vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and a set of consonants including p, t, k, b, d, f, s, m, n, l, r, w, j. The system favors one-to-one orthography. Stress is typically on the penultimate syllable; syllables are CV or CVC. The Latin alphabet is standard; diacritics are optional in some materials.

Grammar: Langlès uses SVO order with analytic syntax and limited tense markers. Nouns are not gendered; plurals take -s. Adjectives follow nouns; determiners precede nouns. Verbs have tense suffixes: -u present, -la past, -ri future. A small pronominal system distinguishes subject and object forms.

Writing and resources: The language has an openly licensed grammar and dictionary; learner materials include readers and a pronunciation guide. Online communities host texts and discussions. Langlès is used mainly in language-design experiments rather than as a replacement for natural languages.
