Landshuts

Landshut is a town in Bavaria, Germany, located on the Isar River. It is the capital of the administrative district of Lower Bavaria and the district of Landshut. The town is situated about 65 kilometers northeast of Munich.

Historically, Landshut was an important ducal residence of the Wittelsbach dynasty. The Trausnitz Castle, a prominent landmark, overlooks the town and played a significant role in its history. The castle was founded in the 13th century and expanded over the centuries. Landshut also gained prominence as a center of trade and commerce, particularly during the late Middle Ages. The town is famous for the Landshut Wedding (Landshuter Hochzeit), a historical reenactment that takes place every few years, commemorating a royal wedding that occurred in 1475.
