Lahores

Lahores is a term sometimes encountered as a nonstandard plural or misspelling of Lahore, the major city in eastern Pakistan. The standard English form of the city’s name is Lahore, and residents are typically described as Lahoris. There is no widely recognized administrative entity formally named Lahores. When used, the form Lahores usually appears in informal writing or as a mistaken plural referring to Lahore’s districts or its inhabitants.

Lahore lies in Punjab province, near the northeast border with India, along the Ravi River. It is one of Pakistan’s largest cities and serves as a major cultural, educational, and economic center. The metropolitan area is home to an estimated population of around 11 million people. The city is a historical hub, hosting a mix of ancient and Mughal-era architecture alongside modern facilities.

Historically, Lahore developed as a key center under various empires, including the Ghaznavids and the Mughal Empire, which left a rich architectural heritage such as the Lahore Fort and the Badshahi Mosque. Other notable sites include the Shalimar Gardens and the old walled city. In the colonial era, Lahore was a leading administrative and cultural hub in British India, and after 1947 it became a core city of Pakistan.
